In 2015 I was asked by friend and co-director Sami Joensuu to travel deep into the Cambodian back country to do a very special documentary for a non-profit organization. The documentary brought me to the remote village of Anuk Lang; a location so remote that the inhabitants have never seen TV or general knowledge of the outside world. Here we dove deep into the life of Ala Ong, a mother who lost one of her children to Dengue Fever unnecessarily due to lack of knowledge of basic health care. FIDA, the non-profit organization brings this basic knowledge to these remote corners of the world to help ensure these meaningless loss of life are avoided. It was an extremely difficult and moving project, just us two filmmakers living and learning from these beautiful people, letting their story be told honestly and purely, so that others may learn of the good work FIDA does and supports their endeavors.
