Danny Ye is one of my favorite chef’s, now head chef of the infamous CATCH in Los Angeles, but was first head chef at the illusive Harlow restaurant in Manhattan. Besides offering some of the most exquisite dishes in the city, Harlow was located in a fairytale location; deep within the Hearst building in a secret speakeasy ballroom that he build for his mistress. Chef Ye and his partners secured this long forgotten cavernous den of wonderment and restored it to it’s original glory. It was a short lived experiment, only open for a year as it was too decadent even for the gilded city of Manhattan, luckily this film will live on as a document of what and extraordinary world they brought back to life.
