NORTON MOTORCYCLES

COMMANDO 50TH ANNIVERSARY BRANDED FILM

Fifty years of the Norton Commando, one night at Union Garage in Brooklyn, with Norton and Belstaff, two British icons, throwing the party together. The goal was to skip the usual event recap and make a little documentary about why people fall for these machines in the first place. So we open on legendary photojournalist Allan Tannenbaum, who bought a brand new Commando in England in the late '60s for $980, rode it over the Pyrenees, and swears it still makes him twenty-five again in the mountain turns. Kenny Cummings walks us through every iteration from the '68 Fastback to the 961 Café Racer, and Elspeth Beard, the first British woman to ride around the world on a motorcycle, remembers when Belstaff was the only waterproof you could buy. Turns out inanimate objects can have souls, and there's nothing more soulful than a British motorcycle.
