MADE WITH EXTREME INTENTION
HI. I’M FREELANCE DIRECTOR + EDITOR ROBERTO SERRINI.
LA-based, NY-built documentary-driven filmmaker with cinematic craft and commercial savvy, crafting award-winning lifestyle, automotive, travel, branded docs, luxury, tech & comedy content for the world’s largest brands.
I make films that live somewhere between reportage, emotion, and fully lived experience. From the world’s backroads to brand narratives that never feel like ads.
From concept to delivery I offer always original, story-first, director-led craft with seasoned editor precision created with extreme intention.
BMW asked me to capture real riders sharing their reel passion, and when I did they coincidentally they had their biggest yearly sales on record. Just sayin’.
2 months, 10 cities, and countless moments falling in love with Italy with Toscanini paid off; This series won more awards than Italians have hand gestures.
How do you completely change the image of a product that is half a centrury old and now needs to melt faces? Well, that’s just what we did for the Honda Gold Wing.
WHY I CREATE
I come from the in-between generation raised on tactile, analog craft and shaped by powerful digital tools. I’m not interested in adding to the noise of mass content. I’m drawn to real, human stories that feel lived-in and connective.
Every project is crafted with extreme intention, informed by years of experience, failure, and hard-won perspective all in service of making work that actually means something.
FEATURED WORK
I direct and edit films that feel lived-in and cinematic, rooted in real moments with documentary depth. Automotive remains a strong thread in my work, while travel and story-driven projects give it soul.
I work lean or scaled, globally, as a dual US/EU citizen fluent in multiple languages. My work has been honored with Vimeo Staff Picks, One Show Silver Pencils, ADC Gold Cubes, Magellan and Taste Awards, and many festival honors; all recognition that reflects craft, not volume.
Would I shoot 20 of the world’s greatest athletes shot in 10 different countries around the world in ultra slow motion for Nike? Yes, I would.
When I helped launch the iconic Honda Goldwing with , I did so by literally launching it off a ramp in a shipyard. If that doesn’t turn heads…
Van Heusen had this insane, new Stain-Guard tech for their shirts. So I made them an equally insane commercial to match their vibe.
About Serrini
I’m a Los Angeles-based New York-built director and editor working across automotive, travel and hospitality, lifestyle, and comedy. My work lives at the intersection of documentary sensibility and cinematic craft to create films that feel alive, intentional, and grounded in real human moments.
I stay closely involved from concept through final edit. That end-to-end authorship allows me to move fluidly between formats from short-form vertical to long-form hero films without losing narrative clarity or emotional weight. Whether the final cut runs six seconds or ninety minutes, the goal is the same: make something that feels honest, intentional, and worth watching.
Style and Vibe:
I am extremely creatively flexible depending on what each individual client needs. I can operate solo through my One Man One Camera studio for maximum agility, collaborate as a freelance director & editor, or scale up with my partnered production company, No-Frames, for larger, more complex shoots. However the work is built, the standard stays the same: focus, accountability, and extreme intention in every frame.
I love my background in documentary and travel journalism that seamlessly keeps performances and moments grounded in reality. I also rely on my training with the Upright Citizens Brigade that’s sharpened my sense of timing, character and structure allowing humor to emerge naturally without undercutting story. The result is work that feels human first, culturally aware, and emotionally intelligent.
Outside of commissioned work, I make documentaries about cookbooks, am Editor at Large for Get Lost Travel Magazine, and spend as much time as possible on motorcycles in other countries. I’m a dual US/EU citizen and have worked across continents, often with small crews and limited margins; experiences that have shaped how I see the world and how I collaborate. I bring that unique perspective into every project, and I try to make the process as considered, efficient, and human as the work itself.
